Some people build careers. I’ve built lives—for myself and for others.

For the past 25 years, I’ve lived at the intersection of technology, entrepreneurship, and hospitality. I’ve wired high schools with cutting-edge clocks, launched SaaS platforms for utility companies, marketed startups in San Francisco, and cooked under James Beard award-winning chefs. I’ve opened restaurants, run pop-ups, baked bread at sunrise, and flown cross-country at a moment’s notice to help bring someone’s vision to life. And now, finally, I’ve brought all of that together—here at KeithKalm.com.

It Started in a Family Business

I grew up inside a small business. That meant grit, long hours, and learning how to make things work—no matter what. I never liked working for others, but I had to learn. That independence stayed with me, but I didn’t realize how useful it would be until much later.

Dream Job, Before the Diploma

When I was a sophomore in college in Arizona, I heard about a small tech firm hiring a marketing assistant,: The TechKnowledgly Center (get it?). They did everything—network installs, websites, marketing, and even built custom software for utility companies. They were bringing an inventory SaaS system to market, and I wanted in.

I changed my class schedule before I even landed the interview. I sold myself, and they hired me—while I was still in school. I had a cubicle at first, then shared an office with their web designer. That’s when it all changed.

Day in and day out, I learned. I watched. I asked questions. I helped wherever I could—installing networks, wiring buildings, even overseeing a project where we installed 1,000 digital clocks across a new high school. Back then, schools still relied on bells and mismatched analog clocks. Our system kept everyone in sync. And I helped make that happen.

From Tech to San Francisco to Startups

After college, I moved to San Francisco and jumped headfirst into the startup world. I worked in lead generation, marketing automation, content management systems—always in sales and marketing, but with a deep technical understanding. I learned how things worked so I could explain them, sell them, and even rebuild them myself using open-source tools.

But something inside me kept evolving.

From Boardrooms to Kitchens

Over time, the call of creation shifted. I went to culinary school, started working in top kitchens., and eventually became a traveling chef—someone who could drop into any kitchen or event and bring an idea to life fast. I helped launch new restaurant concepts, collaborated with big-name chefs, and supported friends and colleagues behind the scenes. Whether it was an intimate dinner party or a full-scale catering operation, I was there—not just cooking, but building.

Eventually, I realized something profound:
I didn’t want to own the restaurant.
I wanted to help others launch theirs.
